Organic Silicon

Silicon is an element present naturally in the body and in numerous foods. In supplementation, it is of particular interest due to its presence in tissues such as skin, tendons, and bone, and because of the research conducted on connective tissue.

For this reason, many people look for silicon supplements as part of their skincare, hair, nail, joint, and tissue care routines. However, not all products use the same source or provide silicon in the same way.

What is organic silicon?

The term organic silicon is commonly used in supplementation to identify certain silicon supplements, but when comparing products, it is more useful to look at the chemical form used, its origin, and the amount provided by each dose.

One of the forms used in food supplements is orthosilicic acid, also known as OSA. It is a soluble form of silicon and is one of the aspects worth evaluating when reviewing a product's composition.

Why is there interest in silicon for skin, hair, nails, and tissues?

Scientific interest in silicon is mainly related to its presence in connective tissues and research into structures involving components such as collagen.

Skin, tendons, cartilage, and other connective tissues depend on a complex structure formed by different proteins and extracellular matrix components. Silicon is found naturally in some of these tissues, which is why its relationship with their structure and metabolism has been researched.

This also explains why silicon frequently appears in supplements intended for skin, hair, nail, and joint care routines.

This does not mean that a silicon supplement is intended to treat skin, hair, or joint problems, but rather that it is used as part of a supplementation and personal care routine.

What forms of silicon are used in supplements?

Supplements can use different sources of silicon. Some come from plant extracts naturally rich in silica, while others use ingredients specifically developed to provide soluble forms of silicon.

This difference is important because comparing only the total milligrams of an ingredient can be misleading. Two products may indicate similar amounts and yet use different sources and compositions.

That is why it is advisable to check three pieces of information: which source of silicon the product uses, how much each dose contains, and how much of the relevant form of silicon the formula actually declares.

Teresa Pons Organic Silicon

Our liquid Organic Silicon combines two different sources in the same formula: MESOPOROSIL® and Tabashir Bamboo dry extract rich in silica.

Each 15 ml dose contains 100 mg of MESOPOROSIL® and 75 mg of Tabashir Bamboo dry extract. Together, they provide 38.45 mg of orthosilicic acid (OSA).

The format is liquid, the bottle contains 500 ml, and it can be taken directly or diluted in water. It has a vanilla aroma.

What is MESOPOROSIL®?

MESOPOROSIL® is a silica ingredient with a mesoporous structure developed to release silicon in the form of orthosilicic acid.

The mesoporous structure increases the available surface area of the ingredient and is designed to facilitate its dissolution and the formation of OSA during the digestive process.

In our Organic Silicon, each 15 ml dose contains 100 mg of MESOPOROSIL®, which provides 14 mg of orthosilicic acid.

What is Tabashir Bamboo?

Tabashir Bamboo is a material derived from bamboo that is naturally rich in silica and traditionally used as a plant-based source of silicon.

The Teresa Pons formula uses a dry extract with a minimum silica content of 85%. Each 15 ml dose contains 75 mg of Tabashir Bamboo extract, which provides 24.45 mg of orthosilicic acid.

Thus, the formula brings together a plant-based source rich in silica and MESOPOROSIL® in the same supplement.

How to choose a good silicon supplement?

Before choosing, it is worth looking beyond the product's trade name.

Source of silicon. Check where it comes from and what form the formula uses.

Amount per dose. It is preferable for the label to clearly specify the amount provided in the daily intake.

Format. A liquid product may be more convenient for those who do not want to take capsules or tablets.

Transparent composition. It should be possible to distinguish how much of each ingredient it contains and what each one actually provides.

Simple routine. A supplement that can be easily integrated into a daily routine is usually easier to maintain.

How is Teresa Pons Organic Silicon taken?

During the first week, the indicated dosage is 45 ml per day.

Starting from the second week, take 15 ml per day.

It can be taken directly or diluted in water.

With this routine, the first 500 ml bottle lasts approximately 19 days. After the initial phase, taking 15 ml per day, one bottle lasts approximately one month.

Silicon, collagen, or a joint formula: which option to choose?

Not all products in this collection have the same goal or composition.

If you are specifically looking for silicon, the option is our liquid Organic Silicon, formulated with MESOPOROSIL® and Tabashir Bamboo.

If you are specifically looking to incorporate collagen and magnesium, you can opt for Collagen with Magnesium.

If you prefer a broader formula within our joint care range, you can consult Articucalm.

It is not necessary to use all three together. The important thing is to choose the composition that best corresponds to the type of supplementation you are looking for.

Precautions

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle.

Keep out of reach of young children.

Do not consume in case of allergy or hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.

In case of pregnancy, breastfeeding, illness, or medical treatment, consult a healthcare professional before using food supplements.

Frequently asked questions about organic silicon

Is silicon the same as orthosilicic acid?

No. Silicon is the chemical element, while orthosilicic acid or OSA is one of the chemical forms in which it can be found.

What does it mean for a product to provide OSA?

It means that the formula specifies the amount of orthosilicic acid provided by the dose. This data allows for a better understanding of the composition than just relying on the total milligrams of the ingredient used.

What is the difference between a plant-based source of silicon and MESOPOROSIL®?

A plant-based source such as Tabashir Bamboo provides silica from bamboo. MESOPOROSIL® is a silica ingredient with a mesoporous structure specifically developed to release silicon in the form of orthosilicic acid.

Liquid silicon or capsules?

It mainly depends on individual preferences. The liquid format may be more practical for those who want to avoid capsules or tablets and allows the dose to be taken directly or mixed with water.

Can Teresa Pons Organic Silicon be mixed with water?

Yes. It can be taken directly or diluted in water.

How long does a bottle last?

The first bottle lasts approximately 19 days following the initial routine. Afterwards, by taking 15 ml daily, a 500 ml bottle lasts approximately one month.
